About Janis
Janis Clark- A Real American Hero
At a young age Janis Clark's mother recognized her intelligence and started her in school early and she graduated high school at age 16.
After a short time in college Janis decided to join the US Army. After enlistment she was promoted rapidly and ended up a staff sergeant. She was then recruited for officer candidate school and was one of only 3 African American women to successfully graduate in her class.
Janis served with distinction and currently holds the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army. Her time in the military has had a dark side as well. With the integration of the women's and men's branches she faced repeated sexual assaults, and prejudicial treatment both for her gender and her race. After many years of enduring the abuse she finally had enough and filed a complaint. Unfortunately, this action brought a firestorm of retaliation and retribution. Janis has endured years of trumped up civil and criminal charges and even an alleged court-martial. But Janis didn't quit then and she wont quit now. She is ready, willing and able to fight for you and see that your priorities are faithfully represented on the Federal Way school board.
